Antalya lies on the coast of southwestern Turkey. Through the centuries the city had a changefull history. It was successively occupied by Romans, Byzantines and Seldschuks.

„Attaleia“ was foundet in 158 b.c by King Attalos II of Pergamon, about eight years later the the city wall was built. The ruins of that wall can still be seen in some places. In 25 b.c. Attaleia became the capital of the roman province Pamphylia and had a time of prosperity.

Antalya, „the pearl of the turkish riviera“, today is the capital city of the province Antalya. The city has 1.2 million habitants and its own airport. It is the center of a fast growing touristic region. The towns landmark is the "grooved minaret" of the Yivli-Minare-Mosque above the cliff line.

The unique location of the town between the mediterranean sea and the taurus mountains offers a lot of different touristic activities. Such as Jeep safari, diving, sailing, motorbiking, hiking, paragliding, visiting a disco or just for relaxing.

There are museums an a lot of cultural monuments in the region. You can book bus trips to visit them.

Antalya has three beaches: the little citybeach underneath the old town, the pebble Konyaalti beach, which can be reached easily by tram and the Lara sandbeach 10 km from the town center, which can be reached easily by bus.
